So, there’s this recent short film by Michael Ashton called “Lazy Teenage Superheroes.” To make matters short(er), it’s about four young superheroes and their normal friend. I’m not going to critique its gender presentations or the fact that its “bad guys” are so dramatically gothy and well-dressed, juxtaposed with the “normal” looking stoner main characters—suffice to say it’s very adolescent-male oriented and the script follows.
But, well.
You might want to watch it. Because it’s actually got better special effects and acting than most of the superhero shows that have disgraced cable TV lately, and it was made with a $300 budget. That’s pretty impressive.
I don’t know if I like it personally, but it is pretty cool as a piece of creative work. I mean, three hundred dollars—and it’s got better effects than Heroes, that’s for certain.
